OUR PASTOR
Pastor Debra E. Morris
In September 2004, Debra Morris and her husband Willie started Sunday Morning Worship Services every other week in their home. After 6 months, the members of this fellowship started calling this setting their church and asked Minister Debra Morris to be their pastor.
Confirmed with much prayer and being lead by the Holy Spirit, Minister Morris gracefully informed her Pastor, Bishop Wilbert G. Preston and with his blessing the development of the new church was born.
A year later, Pastor Morris and her husband started services every week in the basement of their home. Pastor Debra E. Morris became the founding Pastor of the Church of the Living God, Inc.
HER MINISTRY
A Life of Service.
Pastor Morris's theology training started when she attended Tabernacle of Prayer Bible Institute and received several diplomas and New York Theology seminary, She continues to study God's word to enrich and broaden her knowledge, that she shares with her church family. In 2011, Church of the Living God Bible Institute was born starting with 7 members, and currently has 16 graduating classes annually.
Professionally, Pastor Morris is a retired Registered Nurse with a Master's degree in Public Health Administration. She has held many leadership positions in Peri-Operative Management, including Director of Surgical Services.
She is the wife of Elder Emeritus Willie Morris for 53 years, she has one daughter Pastor Kiana Washington, a son-in-law Samuel Washington Jr., 3 grandchildren, Minister Samuel III, Desmond and Jadyn.
Pastor Morris is the product of a God serving family which includes her sister Elder Paulette White; and the late Linwood Carter and Judy Paul. Her parents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Carter Sr.
Pastor Morris leads a faithful congregation of worshippers at the Church of the Living God Inc. She is a saved sanctified woman of God, filled with the Holy Ghost, who delights in preaching the Gospel and serving her Savior Jesus Christ.
